This chapter provides an overview of the argument and theoretical contributions of this volume. The book argues that norm creation at the regional level is driven by ideas that in turn help to shape regional interests and values and is further influenced by the impact of key events and advocacy by prominent leaders. It also discusses the broader implications of my theory and argues that the role of regions in the international order, particularly the African region, has been under-theorized and under-acknowledged. Finally, it ends with calls for continuing research on the role of regional organizations in the global normative order, particularly their impact on international bodies and member states.
